Somewhere over the rainbow your healing is happening-its already complete.
The first step to any healing is becoming aware of what is actually happening in our bodies and minds.
Here is to this information below resonating with you or someone you know.

Arthritis literally translates to joint inflammation -
arthro means joint, and itis is inflammation - but it is used as a collective term for a complex family of musculoskeletal disorders encompassing over 100 different diseases or conditions.  Surprisingly two-thirds of the 50 million Americans that currently have arthritis are under age 65 (300K of them being children).

The two most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear on the joints with the following symptoms:
  • Sore or stiff joints
  • Stiffness after resting that improves with movement
  • Pain that worsens after activity or toward the end of the day.
Osteoarthritis is caused by cartilage damage in the joints, resulting in a reduction in tissue that protects and cushions the joint, allowing bone to rub against bone.

Rheumatoid arthritis is  an autoimmune disease, where the body misidentifies its own tissues as foreign and attacks those tissues.
The immune system then attacks joints and other parts of the body, producing symptoms that vary between individuals, but often involve pain, fatigue and warm, swollen, inflamed-looking joints.

So, you have been told or think you have arthritis, NOW what?

A plant-based diet high in anti-inflammatory properties is most recommended to reduce the pain and increase mobility. Since we are efficacious BEings in control of our DNA, the ingredients of our cells, we can rebuild cartilage, tendons, ligaments and even our bones over time.  ♥ See my page on connective tissue (joints) ♥ Here are a few items to help you get started on your journey of healing.

1) Nuts are rich in protein, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin E and immune-boosting omega-3, alpha linolenic acid (ALA), as well as filling protein and fiber. Raw walnuts being the best option by far.  Remember that nuts have phytic acid, best to consume by themselves to avoid mineral depletion.  Pine nuts, pistachios, cashews and almonds-all RAW, would be great additions as well.  Nuts that are roasted or otherwise cooked above 250 degrees F will contain varying levels of acrylamide, a known carcinogen.  Raw is the way to go!!

Flax seeds (ground), Chia and Hemp are highly beneficial sources of omega 3's.  This trio goes into the green goddess smoothie every day.

2) Sunshine ♥ Vitamin D is the catalyst for every system in your body to function properly.  It also is the pre-cursor for the body to efficiently process calcium and phosphorous.  Our bodies create vitamin D from the sunlight that shines directly on our skin.  How cool is that?! If you are not able to get sunshine regularly (20 minutes a day with at least 60% of your skin exposed), loading up on organic mushrooms may be a good idea.

3) Consuming foods from the allium family – such as garlic, onions and leeks – has led to fewer instances of developing arthritis. The compound diallyl disulphine found in garlic may limit cartilage-damaging enzymes in human cells.  Again, RAW is best.  A Kids Tip - The best way I have found to get onions and garlic into children is through a daily bowl of guacamole (Recipes-click here).

4) Beans and legumes are packed with fiber, a nutrient that helps lower CRP (C-reactive protein).  CRP is a substance produced by the liver that increases in the presence of inflammation in the body. An elevated C-reactive protein level is identified with blood tests and is considered to increase the risk of disease especially cancer. Beans are also an excellent – and inexpensive – source of protein, which is important for muscle health. Some beans are rich in folic acid, magnesium, iron, zinc and potassium, all known for their heart and immune system benefits. Look for red beans, adzuki beans, kidney beans, lentils and pinto beans. Remember to soak and sprout to remove the phytic acid. ♥

5) Citrus fruits – like lemons, oranges, grapefruits and limes – are rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C plays an important role in preventing inflammatory arthritis and maintaining healthy joints with osteoarthritis (OA).  Goji berries are one of the best sources of vitamin C on the planet.

6) Green tea is packed with polyphenols, antioxidants believed to reduce inflammation and slow cartilage destruction. Studies also show that another antioxidant in green tea called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) blocks the production of molecules that cause joint damage in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).  Green tea has the lowest amount of caffeine with half that of black tea and a quarter of most coffees.

Consuming Kombucha (a fermented green tea you can make at home) daily is a great way to detox, load your body with vitamin C, B vitamins including vitamin B12, and probiotics to heal your gut for maximum absorption efficiency. ♥

♥ much love to all of you ♥
7) Cherries and Berries

Cherries help reduce the frequency of gout attacks. The anthocyanins found in cherries have an anti-inflammatory effect. Anthocyanins can also be found in other red and purple fruits like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries.
